Two men arrested for fraudulent home improvement scheme in Belmont Hills neighborhood |
Lower Merion Police have arrested two men accused of running a fake contracting scheme that targeted local homeowners.
Jake Fox and Scott Bradley, both in their 30s, were taken into custody last week and face multiple felony fraud charges. Police say the pair operated under business names including "PJS Paving & Masonry Corp.," "Orchard Paving," and "Perfect Paving LLC."
The scam came to light when Belmont Hills homeowners reported suspicious behavior—abrupt price changes, undocumented material switches, and high-pressure demands for payment. When the suspects returned to collect money last Thursday, police arrested them.
Investigators believe the men are European nationals who changed their identities before entering the U.S. Authorities are working to identify additional victims.
Protect yourself: Always verify contractor credentials through Lower Merion Township's licensed contractor list or the Better Business Bureau before hiring.
Anyone who believes they were victimized by these individuals should contact Lower Merion Police at contractorfraud@lowermerion.org.
