It can be hard to find—or keep—hobbies in adulthood with all of life’s responsibilities. Still, downtime is incredibly important for mental health and overall well-being. One of my favorite ways to unwind is reading, which often gets mixed reactions when I mention it. However, there’s something truly wonderful and relaxing about getting lost in a good story.
Reading is also easy to fit into daily life because it comes in so many different forms. Audiobooks are perfect if you’re on the go or commuting to work, e-books and Kindles travel easily anywhere, and traditional hard copies are great for quiet moments at home. Getting into reading is really about finding the right book—the one that hooks you and makes you want to keep turning the pages.
This column will focus on my personal book recommendations that may help you rediscover—or even develop—a love for reading.
This week, I’m recommending five books that I think are guaranteed to pull you out of a reading slump and have you devouring the plot: • The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose • The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden • The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides • The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine • Verity by Colleen Hoover |
