Major Snowfall Blankets Montgomery County |
Heavy Overnight Storm Brings Travel Delays and School Closures |
Montgomery County woke up to significant snowfall Monday Morning, with the National Weather Service reporting double-digit totals in several communities.
Willow Grove led the way with 13.2 inches, followed by Skippack Township at 12.8 inches and Norristown at 12.2 inches. Penn Wynne recorded 10.5 inches, while parts of Willow Grove saw 10 inches. Other totals included 8.4 inches in Conshohocken and New Hanover Township, 8.2 inches in Trappe, 7.8 inches in King of Prussia and Lansdale, 7.7 inches in Maple Glen, and 6.5 inches in North Wales. The overnight storm created hazardous travel conditions, leading to school delays and a busy morning for road crews salting and plowing major routes. While main roads improved throughout the day, officials urged drivers to remain cautious, especially on bridges and untreated surfaces.
Despite the disruptions, many residents embraced the winter weather, enjoying sledding, snow days, and scenic snow-covered neighborhoods.
Forecasters say cold temperatures could keep snow and icy patches around for several days. |
