Fake Court Notice Texts & Emails Target Montco Resident

A new scam is making its way around Pennsylvania—and it looks very real.

Residents are receiving text messages and emails claiming to be from the Pennsylvania court system, warning of unpaid tolls, traffic violations, or pending legal action. The messages often include official-looking documents labeled “Final Notice – Court Enforcement Action” and urge you to scan a QR code or click a link to “resolve the issue immediately.”

Here’s the problem:
It’s not real. It’s a scam.

These fake notices are designed to create panic. They use legal language, court seals, and urgent deadlines to pressure people into acting fast—before they have time to question it.

🚩 Red Flags to Watch For:
Unexpected texts or emails about fines or court action
QR codes or links asking for immediate payment
Threats of license suspension or legal consequences
Poor formatting or slightly off wording in “official” documents.

What You Should Do:
Do NOT scan the QR code or click the link
Do NOT send payment or personal info
Go directly to official sources like PennDOT or your local court website
If unsure, call the court using a verified phone number—not the one in the message.

Scammers are getting smarter, using realistic designs and even local references to trick people. When in doubt, slow down and verify.
