Pottstown Borough leaders are moving quickly to address urgent repairs for the Evans and Franklin Street bridges, which cross the Norfolk Southern railway.
The bridges have been flagged for Priority 1 repairs, and construction could start as early as December after Norfolk Southern approved a $1 million contract.
Thanks to collaboration with Montgomery County, the scope and cost of the project have been reduced by nearly one-third, maintaining ADA-compliant pedestrian access and improving safety with curb-mounted lane delineators.
Pottstown will cover roughly $400,000 of the cost, using funds originally reserved for another bridge that now has Transportation Improvement Program funding.
Meanwhile, the community is celebrating growth, including a new 110-apartment project from Dwight City Group and PAED’s 60th anniversary.
