A Year in Books: Thrills, Tears, and Triumphs
Each year, I make a goal for how many books I would like to read. I have a competitive nature, so setting a goal motivates me to keep reading and avoid a slump. My goal this year is 30 books, and I also hope to increase the total number of books I read over time. So far, I’ve read 5 books. Below, I listed two of my favorites from this year.
Red Queen is about a girl named Mare who lives in a world where people with silver blood have powers and rule over people with red blood who don’t. When Mare suddenly discovers she has powers even though she’s a Red, she gets pulled into the royal world and secretly helps a rebellion. The book is mostly about power, secrets, and figuring out who to trust.
Not Our Daughter is about a couple who adopt a baby after the baby’s mother dies and warns them that someone dangerous is after her child. Years later, their past catches up to them and they have to go on the run to protect the girl they raised as their own.
