Trivia Question❓

Which famous American shopping destination located in Montgomery County, PA, holds the record for having more retail shopping space than any other mall in the United States?

Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

Residents and businesses located within 10 miles of the Limerick Generating Station can receive free potassium iodide tablets on August 13.

Chester County officials will distribute the tablets at Phoenixville Middle School from noon until 6 p.m. A community resource fair will also take place during the event.

Potassium iodide, commonly called KI, is used during certain nuclear emergencies. It can help protect the thyroid from absorbing radioactive iodine that could be released during an accident. However, the tablets should only be taken when public health officials instruct residents to do so.

The distribution is part of the area’s continuing emergency-preparedness efforts. Those unable to attend may request tablets through the county’s online program.

Having KI available does not mean an emergency is expected. It is simply another way for families and local businesses near the plant to be prepared—just like keeping flashlights, batteries, water, and an emergency plan ready.

Artificial intelligence is no longer just for giant corporations. Today, even a small Montgomery County business can use AI to answer calls, schedule appointments, write estimates, respond to customers, and follow up on new leads.

Imagine a local cleaning company receiving an inquiry while everyone is busy working. Instead of letting the call go unanswered, an AI assistant can collect the customer’s information, explain basic services, and schedule a consultation. The business owner can then review everything later.

That does not mean robots are replacing people. The best use of AI is to handle repetitive tasks so owners and employees can focus on work requiring judgment, creativity, and personal attention.

However, businesses must use these tools carefully. Customer information should be protected, and important messages should still be reviewed by a real person.

For Montgomery County entrepreneurs, AI may be like adding an extra office assistant—one that works around the clock, never takes a lunch break, and helps a small business appear much bigger than it really is.

Joke Of The Day

Why did the GPS break down crying after driving through Montgomery County, PA?

Too many "recalculating" moments — it kept thinking it finally found the Main Line, but every road just looped back to another charming little borough with a name it couldn't pronounce.

Cheltenham Township is mapping out its future, and local businesses are an important part of the picture.

The township’s recently approved long-term plan outlines ideas for guiding growth through 2040. Instead of relying on large amounts of new development, Cheltenham is looking at ways to breathe new life into existing commercial areas, including Glenside and Elkins Park.

Ideas include attracting new restaurants and shops, creating opportunities for food trucks and home-based businesses, and finding productive uses for oversized parking lots. The plan also explores adding more housing near shopping districts and public transportation, including apartments above businesses.

Creating more walkable neighborhoods is another priority. Having residents live closer to stores, restaurants and transit could mean more customers for local businesses while reducing dependence on cars.

Cheltenham’s approach could be worth watching throughout Montgomery County. Many established communities face the same question: How do you encourage economic growth when there isn’t much open land left to develop?

For Cheltenham, part of the answer may be reinvesting in the neighborhoods and business districts it already has.

Tip of The Day

Skip the Chain and Eat Local at a Montgomery County Farm Market This Week

Montgomery County runs several seasonal and year-round farm markets that most residents drive right past. The Lansdale Farmers Market county's agriculture pagefeature vendors selling raw honey, and specialty cheeses you simply cannot find at a grocery store. Instead of a weekend lunch run to a chain restaurant, pull up the county's agriculture page, find the market nearest you, and budget about $50 to replace one week's worth of pantry staples with hyper-local versions.

The practical payoff beyond flavor: many vendors at these markets will tell you exactly how and where your food was grown, which means you can make genuinely informed choices about pesticide use, animal welfare, and food miles — something no supermarket label fully delivers. Go early for the best selection, and bring a cooler bag if you plan to grab anything perishable.

Last week, we talked about choosing momentum over motivation. Taking one small step can get you moving—but what keeps you moving when the excitement wears off?

The answer is routine.

Motivation depends on how you feel. A routine gives you a plan even on the days when you feel tired, distracted or discouraged. The secret is to make that routine simple enough to repeat.

Choose one important task each morning. Give it your full attention before the day becomes crowded. Once that task is finished, move to the next small step. You do not need to conquer everything at once.

Over time, those repeated actions begin to build something stronger than motivation: discipline. Discipline creates progress, and progress builds confidence.

This week, don’t focus on doing more. Focus on doing what matters consistently. A small step taken every day will carry you farther than one giant burst of effort.

Keep showing up. Your routine is turning yesterday’s momentum into tomorrow’s success.
