Montgomery Township’s K-9 teams have earned national recognition after both units secured 2025 certifications from the United States Police Canine Association.
The awards were presented at a township supervisors meeting by Officer Robert Ungurean of the Upper Southampton Police Department, who leads the association’s Region 6 as president.
Both K-9 teams are trained in narcotics detection, patrol work, and tracking—an accomplishment involving complex testing under realistic conditions.

Patrol certification added another layer, demanding obedience, safe deployment, and suspect apprehension skills.
Officer Ungurean noted that of 145 members in Region 6, only four teams completed all three certifications this year—including both from Montgomery Township—a testament to their exceptional dedication and training. Read More... |
