NORRISTOWN — What started in 1981 as a priest handing out food from a church pantry has grown into a lifeline for thousands. The Patrician Society is celebrating 45 years of serving Montgomery County families — and they're not slowing down.
Last year alone, they helped 2,731 households with food, utility bills, heating oil, medical expenses, and work readiness support. All run by a 5-person staff and roughly 100 volunteer hours weekly.
The Business Angle
Local nonprofit Michael Petrone Foundation is stepping up for the 45th anniversary with a fundraiser on April 12, 3-6 PM at Screwballs in King of Prussia. Fox 29's Bob Kelly hosts. $40 tickets, plus bring new kids' pajamas for St. Christopher's Hospital.
Why ProBiz Members Should Care
The Patrician Society's longevity comes from strategic partnerships and community embedding. When local businesses support organizations like this, they build trust that translates to customer loyalty.
"We only exist because of people and groups like the Michael Petrone Foundation. People who are sensitive to those in need, and who respond with generosity, whether through financial support or volunteer time." — Liam Murphy, Executive Director, Patrician Society
