Upper Hanover Says No: The Data Center Battle That Shook a Small Town!
Residents push back hard — find out why Upper Hanover's big tech deal just fell apart.
Upper Hanover Township residents are celebrating a major development after plans for a controversial data center along Gravel Pike were officially withdrawn!
The proposed 150,000 square foot facility would have been built on approximately 37 acres, less than 300 feet from several homes. The project sparked strong opposition from neighbors concerned about its impact on their community.
At the October 13 Board of Supervisors meeting, developer representative Bob Downs announced that the data center plans were withdrawn, acknowledging the overwhelming public response.
Instead, developers presented a proposal for 60 single-family homes. However, township supervisors expressed concerns about the density and recommended limiting construction to 30 homes.
Several residents thanked the developer for removing the data center from consideration. While the property’s future remains undecided, the announcement marks a significant turning point for Upper Hanover residents and demonstrates how community involvement can influence local development.
