Big things are happening in Montgomery County, and the numbers are turning heads!

At a lively celebration held at Valley Forge Casino Resort, a record-breaking 750 guests gathered to hear some exciting news: Montgomery County's hotel industry is on track to generate an incredible $300 million in room revenue in 2026!

And that's just the beginning!

Tourism already contributes an estimated $2.5 billion to the local economy and supports more than 51,000 hospitality jobs. From bustling hotels and popular restaurants to historic attractions and family adventures, Montgomery County is attracting attention!

The celebration also welcomed legendary endurance swimmer Diana Nyad, whose remarkable journey of determination inspired attendees to keep dreaming big.

With new investments, major attractions, and exciting plans for 2027, Montgomery County is proving there's plenty of room to grow.

The best part? More visitors mean more opportunities for local businesses, workers, and communities throughout the county.

As colder weather approaches, Montgomery County is taking action to help protect some of its most vulnerable residents.  County officials and local charitable organizations have secured $300,000 in funding to support emergency winter shelters throughout Montgomery County.

The funding will help shelter providers cover essential operating expenses before county reimbursements become available later in the winter. Emergency shelters will serve residents in Norristown, Pottstown, North Penn, and Upper Perkiomen when temperatures or wind chills are expected to fall below 32 degrees.

The initiative brings together Montgomery County, the Montgomery County Foundation, and several charitable partners to ensure shelters are prepared when freezing temperatures arrive.  According to the county's 2026 homelessness count, 477 individuals were experiencing homelessness, including 59 who were unsheltered.

This funding will help local organizations provide a safe, warm place for residents during dangerously cold weather.

It's an important example of community organizations and local government working together to make a difference.

Last week, we challenged ourselves to add 10 minutes of movement to our daily routine. See last week's article here.

This week, we’re taking another small step toward a healthier lifestyle by learning to slow down.

Life gets busy! Between work, family, errands, and everyday responsibilities, it’s easy to go from morning to night without taking a moment for yourself.

But did you know that even a five minute break can help you feel refreshed and more focused? You don’t need an entire afternoon off or an expensive spa day. Simply step outside for fresh air, enjoy a quiet cup of tea, stretch your shoulders, or sit peacefully without your phone.

Taking short breaks throughout the day can help reduce stress, improve concentration, and give you a chance to recharge.

This Week’s Dig In Challenge: Take one fiveminu te break each day just for yourself. No phone, no chores, and no multitasking!

Remember, taking care of yourself doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes the smallest pauses make the biggest difference.

Small breaks today can lead to a more balanced tomorrow!

November is here, and the holiday season is right around the corner! Between shopping, cooking, decorating, and entertaining, keeping your home spotless can quickly become overwhelming.

Why wait until the last minute?

Now is the perfect time to tackle those often overlooked areas, like baseboards, kitchen cabinets, ceiling fans, and guest bathrooms. A little extra attention today can make holiday preparations much easier tomorrow.
