State Won’t Fund Shapiro Home Upgrades
Treasurer cites legal limits on private residence spending.
Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity says her office cannot approve payment for security upgrades at the private residence of Governor Josh Shapiro without legislative approval.
Although Pennsylvania State Police supported the upgrades, Garrity stated the request falls outside current legal spending authority, calling it an unusual use of taxpayer funds. She emphasized that approval could still happen if lawmakers include the expense in the state budget. The situation has sparked debate, with questions around whether public funds should be used for improvements to a personal home rather than an official state property.
👉 ProBiz Tip: Whether it’s public or private projects, funding approvals matter. Contractors who understand budgets, approvals, and compliance get paid faster—and avoid delays. |
