Johnson & Johnson Investing $1B+ in Montgomery County |
Major Investment Brings Jobs, Innovation, and Growth to Montgomery County |
Johnson & Johnson is bringing a major investment to Montgomery County with plans to build a next-generation cell therapy manufacturing facility in Lower Gwynedd. The more than $1 billion project will expand U.S. production of advanced treatments for cancer, immune-related, and neurological diseases. It’s part of the company’s broader $55 billion national investment strategy through 2029 focused on strengthening domestic manufacturing.
The economic impact will be significant: more than 4,000 construction jobs are expected during development, along with 500 permanent biomanufacturing positions once the facility is operational. The company will also support workforce training programs to prepare employees for advanced manufacturing technologies.
State and federal leaders praised the investment as a major win for Pennsylvania’s life sciences sector. Johnson & Johnson already operates 10 facilities statewide and contributes approximately $10 billion annually to the Commonwealth’s economy. This expansion further positions Montgomery County as a hub for healthcare innovation and advanced manufacturing. |
