Montgomery County to Host Drug Take Back Day at 41 Locations on April 25
Drug Take Back Day
Residents across Montgomery County will have 41 convenient drop-off sites available on Saturday, April 25, 2026, for National Drug Take Back Day, giving the public a safe way to dispose of unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications. The initiative is being led by Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele in partnership with Abington Township Police Chief Patrick Molloy, president of the Montgomery County Police Chiefs Association. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with officers on-site at all participating locations to safely collect medications.
🏢 Where to Drop Off Medications Residents can visit participating police departments across the county, including locations in Abington, Ambler, Cheltenham, Collegeville, Conshohocken, East Norriton, Hatboro, Hatfield, Jenkintown, Lansdale, Limerick, Norristown, Pottstown, Plymouth Township, Upper Dublin, Upper Merion, Whitemarsh, and many other municipalities. State Police Troop K in Skippack will also be participating, along with additional township and borough departments throughout the county.
🛒 Grocery Store Drop-Off Sites Several staffed collection points will also be available at local grocery stores, including: Wegmans in North Wales (Montgomery Township Police) Accepted items include: Prescription and over-the-counter pills and capsules Not accepted: Needles or syringes
If you miss the one-day event, residents can still safely dispose of medications year-round using more than 50 permanent MedReturn drop boxes located at police stations throughout the county. These programs are supported in part by the District Attorney’s Office and partners such as Pennsylvania American Water to help protect public health and water quality.
📊 Program Impact Since its launch in 2010, Montgomery County’s Drug Take Back program has collected and safely destroyed more than 144,500 pounds of unused medications, helping reduce the risk of misuse, accidental poisoning, and environmental contamination. |
