Trivia Question❓

Montgomery County, PA was established on September 10, 1784. How many municipalities are located within the county?

Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

Distracted driving remains a pressing safety concern throughout southeastern Pennsylvania.

Recent data from 2021 through 2025 reveals over 9,700 reported distractions at the wheel, with 1,784 cases documented in 2025 alone.

Montgomery County represented about 8% of last year’s cases, ranking high among local offenders along with Berks, Chester, and Delaware counties.

Berks County led the region by contributing nearly 9% of violations, while Chester and Delaware each accounted for approximately 5%.

Infractions tracked range from texting and using handheld devices to wearing headphones while driving.

Texting while driving—whether sending, reading, or typing messages—remains especially widespread, bringing a minimum $50 fine before additional fees.

Drivers in their 20s and 30s are cited most often, especially during mid-afternoon peaks.

Officials urge continued vigilance to improve safety on local roads.

Quote Of The Day

"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful." - Albert Schweitzer

Sometimes embracing a fresh start means clearing out the old instead of adding something new.

This week saw me tackling the overgrown patch behind my shed, where dandelions had claimed every corner.

Though many see dandelions as nuisances, they’re actually packed with vitamins and have supported wellness for generations.

It’s easy to forget that what we try to remove can still offer unexpected value.

Yet, the truth remains—they don’t belong in my garden right now.

That’s what new beginnings are about: not just adding more, but making space by letting go of what no longer helps us.

This week, take a moment to clear out something holding you back.

Every transformation starts with a clean slate and a single step forward.

Montgomery County officials are urging Pennsylvania regulators to scrutinize a proposed utility rate hike by PECO Energy Company, citing potential financial hardship for local families and businesses.

State Sen. Katie Muth has formally asked the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to investigate, noting that proposed increases outstrip what many residents can afford.

PECO aims to raise electric rates by 12.5% and natural gas by 11.4% in 2027, potentially impacting over two million customers regionwide.

Average households could see monthly bills rise by $20 for electricity and $14 for gas.

Leaders across party lines have highlighted that customer rates are already up this year, even as PECO reports robust profits—possibly to expand infrastructure for new data centers.

Gov. Josh Shapiro’s proposed legislation may also centralize control over large energy projects.

Muth wants public hearings before any final rate decisions are made.
